Bennett-McConnell
John (Son of John Bennett & Elizabeth Murray) and Annie (Daughter of James McConnell) married on June 30, 1888 at St. Matthews Church in County Down. Bernard McQuaide and Mary Anne Bennett were witnesses. John was living at 26 Georges Street before the marriage. Annie was working as a spinner and living at 18 Georges Street.
After the marriage, they lived on Georges Street when their first child John was born then moved to a number of homes in and around the same area until they settled into the house at 69 Anderson Street by 1900. In 1911 John worked as a Coal Porter. Annie worked as a housekeeper. The children John Jr worked as a carpenter. Jane worked as a spinner & Lizzie worked as a weaver in the linen mills. The rest of the children were in school or infants. The family lived at 69 Anderson Street and passed the house to grown siblings. Son William lived in the house until his death in 1954. The house remained in the family, passed down to other family members through 1968.
